OMFS Program Overview

A regular didactic program of hospital rounds, seminars, and conferences is supplemented by specific courses in surgical anatomy and oral and head and neck pathology. All residents will be trained and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ACLS/ATLS) during the program.

It is the intent of the program to foster and develop both well-trained clinicians as well as scholars who pursue academic careers and research. Teaching experience will also be gained in the context of the Program. The resident staff will participate in teaching more junior residents as well as general practice and pediatric dentistry residents.

The MSBI/Jacobi Residency Program includes rotations at Jacobi Medical Center, North Central Bronx Hospital, The Mount Sinai West Medical Center and The Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center. During the course of clinical training, the OMFS resident spends time at each of these institutions for a broadened and varied clinical exposure in the specialty.
