In addition to our six year OMFS program, MSBI/Jacobi/AECOM annually accepts six one-year OMFS interns. The interns spend the majority of their time at both Jacobi Medical Center and Mount Sinai Beth Israel. These one year positions are designed for the candidates that are genuinely interested in pursuing an OMFS residency and would like to experience a full scope OMFS residency.
Duties will include: clinic coverage, on call coverage, ER, OR and inpatient management of OMFS patients. Interns will also attend all didactic departmental conferences. The OMFS interns are an integral part of the patient care team.
To apply for an internship position, completion of a PGY-1 GPR or AEGD before the start of the program is mandatory. The OMFS internships are fully funded positions. Salaries start at the PGY-2 level.
The goals of the OMFS internships are:
To gain experience in outpatient oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures including management of simple and surgical extractions and impacted teeth pre-prosthetic procedures and endosseous dental implants
