GPR Faculty
Victor Badner, DMD, MPH
Chair, Department of Dentistry & OMFS
Dr. Badner is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (BA), the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (DMD), and the University of California Los Angeles (MPH). He is a Diplomate in the American Board of Dental Public Health and Professor in the Department of Dentistry and in the Department of Epidemiology & Population Health at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His career has focused on providing access to care for underserved populations by integrating education, clinical care and research. He is the dentist representative for the Health + Hospitals system and is the commissioner for CODA representing the specialty of Dental Public Health.
Robert Margolin, DDS
Director, General Practice Residency
Dr Robert Margolin is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and completed his GPR at Jacobi Medical Center. Dr Margolin was in private practice in the Bronx for 18 years. He was on staff at Jacobi for 15 year before becoming program director. Prior to that, Dr Margolin was GPR Director at another hospital in the Bronx for 15 years. Dr. Margolin is past president of the Bronx County Dental Society and past editor and president of the New York State Academy of General Dentistry. He is also held various positions in organized dentistry at the state and national level. Dr Margolin is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists,the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Josephine E. Sullivan, DDS
Assistant Director, General Practice Residency
Dr. Sullivan is currently the Assistant Director of the General Practice Program at Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital. She obtained her D.D.S at S.U.N.Y Stony Brook. She completed a 2 year general practice residency at Montefiore Medical at Jacobi Medical Center. She is a member of the America Dental Association with Bronx County and the 9th District. She has been a general practice attending at Jacobi and North Central Bronx since 2004. Also, she works at a private practice in the Bronx.
Denise How, DMD
Chief of Periodontics
Dr How is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Dental Medicine (1991), where she also received her post graduate periodontal training. Dr. How provides lectures and hands on training in all aspects of periodontal therapy and surgery. She maintains a private practice in Manhattan.
Diane Baver Heller, DDS
Endodontics
Dr. Heller is a graduate of Downstate Medical Center College of Nursing. Prior to starting dental school, Dr. Heller worked as an RN at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on the Head and Neck Unit. She received her DDS at SUNY Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine and then enrolled at UMDNJ Dental School (now Rutgers) and received her certificate of Endodonitcs. She worked in a private endodontic practice from 1990 until 2017. She has been involved in teaching endodontics to general practice residents since 1990.
James Verna, DMD
Co-Chief of Prosthodontics
Dr. Verna is a graduate of the New York University College of Dentistry (1964). He completed an Oral Surgery Internship at the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center in 1965. He has been on the attending staff since 1970. Dr. Verna maintains a private practice in Manhattan.
Stanley Weinstock, DDS
Co-Chief of Prosthodontics
Weinstock is a graduate of the New York University College of Dentistry (1962). He completed an Oral Surgery Internship at the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center in 1963. He has been on the attending staff since 1968. Dr. Weinstock has maintained a private practice in Manhattan since 1965.
Martin Kimmel, DDS
General Dentistry
Dr. Kimmel is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Meeicine (1961). He received further training in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. from 1961-1963. He has been certified at the mastership level by the World Clinical Laser Institute from 1993-present.
Michael Gershanok, DDS
General Dentistry
Dr Gershanok is a graduate of the New York University College of Dentistry (1992), and the Jacobi Medical Center General Practice Residency Program (1994). Dr Gershanok maintains a private practice in Westchester providing cosmetic, laser and implant dentistry services. Dr. Gershanok supervises residents and provides lectures on subjects relating to aesthetic dentistry.
Anita Agarwal, BDS, DMD, MPH
General Dentistry
Dr. Agarwal graduated from the University of Pune, India with a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery. She received a Doctor of Dental Medicine from Boston University School of Dental medicine and completed a General Practice Residency at New York Medical College. She completed a fellowship in Dental Oncology/Maxillofacial Prosthetics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NY and received a Master’s in Public Health from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Agarwal provides supervision and clinical education to the Residents. She is appointed to the faculty of Albert Einstein College of Medicine and maintains a private practice in Scarsdale, NY.
Christina Heng, DDS
General Dentistry
Dr. Christine Heng graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in 1992. She completed the Dental Public Health (DPH) Residency at Jacobi Medical Center (JMC) in Bronx, NY in 2001 and became board-certified in DPH in 2003. Presently, Dr. Heng is a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service and stationed at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, CT. She is also a part-time attending in the dental residency program at JMC. Dr, Heng has completed numerous epidemiologic studies and published in peer-reviewed journals such as General Dentistry, Journal of Dental Public Health Dentistry, Oral Surgery Oral Medicine Oral Pathology Oral Radiology and Endodontology, Journal of Correctional Health Care, Military Medicine, New York State Dental and Hawaii Dental Journal.
Joel Green, DDS
General Dentistry
Dr. Green graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 1983. He completed a general practice residency at the Bronx Veterans Administration Medical Center. He maintains a private practice on Pelham Parkway for over 30 years.
