GPR - General Description
The Department of Dentistry/OMFS of Jacobi Medical Center (JMC) and North Central Bronx Hospital (NCBH) offers a year General Practice Residency Training program with an optional second year. The program includes outpatient and inpatient care. There are currently 10 PGY 1 positions and one PGY 2 position. The facilities at both JMC and NCBH afford an excellent opportunity to learn and practice all phases of dentistry under the supervision of highly accomplished practitioners.

The East Campus (JMC) is comprised of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM), Jacobi Medical Center, and the Rose F. Kennedy Center. A map of the east campus is available at

The JMC campus is the primary site utilized for emergency care, OMFS training, and operating room experience. It is home to a state of the art dental center comprising 12 operatories and 2 amsurg suites. The dental center is the primary site for comprehensive ambulatory dental care of adults and children.

The Rose F. Kennedy Center (RFK) provides comprehensive care to individuals with developmental disabilities. The dental center at RFK is a state of the art facility providing comprehensive special needs care.

Jacobi Medical Center is a designated Level 1 Trauma Center, Regional Burn Center, Regional Hyperbaric Center, and Regional Anti Venom Center. Dental residents will have the opportunity to work alongside emergency room personnel treating patients who have sustained dento-alveoler and maxillofacial trauma.

NCBH is home to a state of the art dental clinic with 9 operatories and 2 amsurg suites. Residents spend equal amounts of time at JMC and NCBH. The faculty rotates between each facility.

JMC sponsors a 2 year Pediatric Dental Residency Training Program, a 3 year Dental Anesthesiology Residency Training Program, and a 6 year OMFS Residency Training Program leading to a MD degree. The residencies work together in a team approach to provide comprehensive in and out patient care.

JMC also maintains a Dental Public Health Residency Training Program.

Located on tree lined Pelham Parkway and across the street from AECOM, JMC serves the community in this urban landscaped area of the Bronx. The program is designed to provide diverse clinical experiences for the GP resident in an atmosphere of collaboration, education, and growth. Successful graduates will be prepared for private practice and /or further postgraduate training. NYS licensure is available to successful graduates of the program.
