GPR
On Call Duties
Jacobi's designation as a trauma center produces an active emergency room. The GPR is responsible for maxillofacial trauma on a rotating basis (every 3rd night) shared with Plastic Surgery and ENT. The resident learns first-hand how to assess and treat dental and facial traumatic emergencies. Comprehensive dental care is not provided at night. The Emergency Room on-call schedule averages once every 7-8th night per resident. The GPR is responsible for 1st call duties with backup provided by Oral Surgery residents. Residents are required to stay on site when they are trauma on-call. Overnight accommodations are available.
